Guided Imagery
Guided imagery uses the imagination to influence physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. It taps into the mind-body connection by engaging the senses through visualization. By intentionally creating calming or empowering mental images, individuals can reduce stress and cultivate inner resources for growth and resilience.

Guided imagery involves imagining scenes, sensations, or scenarios in a way that evokes a desired emotional or physical response. It is intentional and multi-sensory; you may "see" a peaceful place in you mind's eye, "hear" birdsongs, "smell" nature, and "feel" the warmth of the sun. This immersive experience makes the technique particularly effective in engaging the nervous system.
Research shows that the brain responds to imagined experiences in ways that mirror real ones. Brain scans reveal that imagining a physical activity activates many of the same neural pathways involved in actually performing the activity. Just like thinking about upsetting situations can dysregulate us; likewise. imagining a peaceful place can calm our nervous system.

I used guided imagery as a complement to enhance relaxation, connect to inner resources, and to experience safety and security.
