EMDR
General
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps you process distressing memories and emotions. In my practice, EMDR is delivered in a gentle, trauma-informed way, helping you feel safe, grounded, and supported while healing from trauma, anxiety, or difficult life experiences.
EMDR helps your brain process difficult or painful memories so they feel less overwhelming. EMDR helps your mind and body digest past experiences, so memories no longer trigger intense fear or distress. Combined with a gentle, trauma-informed approach, it allows you to feel more grounded, in control, and at ease.
EMDR is effective for adults, teens, and some children struggling with:
• PTSD or past trauma
• Anxiety or panic attacks
• Depression or low mood
• Fears or phobias
• Childhood or relational trauma
• Grief, loss, or major life transitions
Using a trauma-informed, gentle approach, EMDR supports healing without overwhelming your system.
It can. Experiencing emotions or memories is a natural part of the healing process. In my work, I take a trauma-informed, gentle, and integrative approach, which means:
• Safety first: I guide each session at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We begin with grounding and stabilization techniques so your nervous system feels supported before approaching difficult memories.
• Integration of body and mind: Healing isn’t just cognitive; it involves the body. I incorporate somatic awareness, mindful tracking of sensations, and breathing practices to help you stay connected and present.
• Gentle processing: Memories and emotions are approached with care. I help you notice, contain, and releasedistressing material without being overwhelmed. You always have tools and support to navigate intense experiences.
• Client-led pacing: You are the expert on your own experience. We move at your readiness, revisiting or pausing as needed to ensure the process is soothing rather than triggering.
• Holistic support: I blend EMDR with mindfulness, grounding, and embodiment practices, helping the nervous system reorganize safely and allowing healing to integrate across mind, body, and life.
The result is EMDR therapy that feels calm, nurturing, and deeply transformative, allowing you to process trauma safely while building resilience and stability.
Yes. EMDR is safe, especially when delivered in a trauma-informed, client-centered way. Some memories or emotions may surface, but you are always guided with care. The pace is gentle, prioritizing safety, grounding, and emotional readiness, so your nervous system can process without being overwhelmed.
